Quick & Easy Bespoke Box

I like handmade things because they give a personal touch. But some days, making something original requires creative promptings.

Two weeks ago, Canon sponsored a group of bloggers with Pixma printers each to blog about the creative things we can do with crafty resources at Canon CREATIVE PARK and Canon PIXMA town. I've always wanted a Pixma printer for its printing quality and was quite thrilled with my MG5570 model (although I was also eyeing the fire engine red one another blogger received, but gratitude girl, gratitude).

What can I say, the websites were created to avoid pre-mature life span shortening for procrastinators like me. I had a gift for my mother-in-law but no box to put it in. So I headed to these two websites and found a basic floral box template that I could print, cut and decorate just the way I want it.

It was super simple. The instructions were clear and the cut-outs well marked with fold lines. The only challenge I faced was the folding of the "petals" so that the top looked like a perfect flower. Obviously, I was no match for the most idiot-proof of visual instructions. The box was hitherto building up well but now threatening to look like origami gone wrong. Suddenly, the paper folds fell into place and a perfect flower was formed. Hooray!

Meantime, my daughter has found that she can build a whole town out of paper from the Creative Park site. Looks like the Little Ponies will have a new neighbourhood to roam about soon.

Put your gift inside the box

Crease along the dotted lines and fold the "petals" towards the left

Voila, you get a pretty floral cover for your box

Personalise it your way and it becomes a unique gift!

Some family love...

With Valentine's Day just round the corner, the Made With Love design team was asked to come up with love-themed projects.  I thought I ditch the lovey-dovey twosome kind of album and focus on love within the family. (Actually, the real reason is because I've a lot of polaroid photos of my nephews, niece and in-laws sitting around) So I made a mini album that tells {The Story of Us}!

Clearing the backlog....

In a blink of an eye, it's been three months since I've updated this blog! If you've just popped by, do know you're much appreciated! *hugs*

The last few months have been revolving around work, ministry and the children. In between, here're some scrapping projects I did:

A layout using October Afternoon papers and embellishments. Don't you love those rosettes! They were made with the Sizzix Mini Paper Rosettes Sizzlit Decorative Strip (#657177)

7Gypsies altered tray to be hung at my husband's new office. Using lots of Maya Road and Crate Paper goodies plus Prima flowers.

Challenge Layout for my LSS Made With Love. The challenge was to use bits and pieces from at least 6 manufacturer brands, and to have the word "HAPPY" in the title. Fabulous layouts came in for this one!

Will be working furiously on a wedding project this month... stay tuned and have a great month!

Happy 1st Birthday

Last month, I told a girlfriend that I'll make a signage for her girl's 1st birthday. I got so much into it that the project expanded to include a guestbook and a banner. Here they are, all taken with Instagram (my favourite Iphone app of the moment), except for the banner. I've never been so inspired! Lol.

Lots of Echo Park!

When Echo Park first leapt into the scrapbook market, I fell in love with their Sweet Summertime and Walk in the Park papers almost immediately. Then came the Little Girl collection, of which I got the whole set.

I was so busy in the first three months with work, ministry and settling my son in primary school that I hardly had time to scrap. I thought English and Mandarin spelling would be the worst of it all. Then I found out there was "Show and Tell" (for 6-year-olds?!) So sleep was always the first priority when there was time! When things finally settled somewhat, you could say I literally scrapped with vengence. (Plus, ahem, there were deadlines to meet for my LSS.) I took out the Echo Park papers and did this mini album of our UK road trip last year and a layout of my (not-so) little girl.

There's more to come in the next few days. I'm in the midst of completing a 12x12 album of our UK trip (too many beautiful photos so I printed most of them) and finishing some loooong overdue wedding albums.

My Latest Sizzix Projects

I've been out of the radar screen for a while. After one month of holidays and the kids are finally back in school!

In between keeping the kids occupied, going for a church camp in Malaysia, this is what I've done for my LSS Made With Love.

Thanks for dropping by and have a great weekend!
